Meet the directors
Communication and Stakeholder relationships
Kamal Ramsingh is a self-confessed life servant of IT of which he dedicated nearly three decades of service across multiple sectors. Kamal has occupied executive positions at large multi-national consulting and systems integration firms and advised CIO’s and organisations across East, West, and Southern Africa.
He is a successful African ICT Entrepreneur and continues to express his passion and purpose of capitalising on the envisaged growth in the geospatial intelligence market. Founder and CEO of Geo Intelligence Corp, and chairman of MAPIT (previously TomTom SA) which is at the forefront of digital mapping solutions. MAPIT has established a deep penetration of the geospatial market providing location intelligence to over 2.1 million assets, whilst supporting GeoInt’s focus on providing ground-breaking geospatial products and solutions across multiple sectors.
His passion to grow the African geospatial market saw Kamal lead the formation of ZASPACE – our country’s first industry body representing the space and geospatial sector. Kamal is the Chairperson of ZASPACE and is transforming the geospatial and space sector in collaboration with the South African National Space Association (SANSA).
“This is definitely a special time for our country and sector. Our post pandemic reality has cast a sharp focus on space and location-based assets and how they can be leveraged at times of crisis. These realities also highlighted our lack of readiness (as a country) to adequately leverage these assets.”
Innovation and SMME Development
Davis is the CEO at RIIS. He focuses on helping organisations and industries transform their innovation culture, behaviour and capabilities, and enabling them to remain relevant in a rapidly modernising and uncertain future. He has a diverse range of industry experience across the areas of strategy development, innovation, and risk management. He has also held high level and management positions in a range of organisations including KPMG, ERM, and the Gauteng Provincial Government. Further to his role at ZASPACE, Davis is also an Non-Executive Director at Anza Capital (an early stage African-focused VC fund), and the SA Innovation Summit. He holds several undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in science, business and social studies.
Francois Denner is an industrialist with a passion for the economic development and upliftment of society. Francois is the Owner and Director of The Enceladus Group (Pty), a strategic consulting company focused on industrial development which provides advice, strategy support, deal making facilitation and project delivery to International Organizations, Governments and Industry. During his >25 year professional career Francois has built an impressive resume and held various position, including: Member of the core team facilitating the development of the Masterplan for the South African Aerospace and Defense Economy, Space Programme Manager at the South African National Space Agency, Director of the National Aerospace Centre of Excellence, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, Chief Technical Advisor to the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, to name a few of his achievements. He holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering. Themes central to his career include:
- Creation of industrial capabilities in developing countries as necessary foundation for economic development
- The catalytic effect of high-value and advanced manufacturing industries, with specific focus on the Aerospace, Defence and Space sectors, in order to unlock growth.
